Registration
REGISTRATION FOR SPRING 2012 IS NOW OPEN
To register online as a player or coach please click on the link below.
· Online registrants can pay by VISA or MasterCard or by mail in check. Keep in mind that the registration is not considered complete until the check has been received.
· If you do not wish to register online then you may obtain a copy of the registration form at the Herndon Community Center after 12/20 that can be mailed in or you may come to one of our in person registrations to be held:
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 8th from 7-9pm and SATURDAY FEBRUARY 25th from 10am-2pm at the Herndon Community Center
· LAST DAY for on time registration is 2/25/12 and any player who registers after this time must pay a $25 late fee and will only be placed on a team if space is available.
· Late fees are not refundable unless we are unable to place the child on a team.
Refunds must be requested via email prior to April 1st and are subject to a $10 processing fee. No refunds for any reason will be given after April 1st.

U8 Boys Panthers Win All-Star Championship
The
U8 Herndon Panthers won all 7 games as they debuted impressively at
all-star level in the Herndon All-Star Cup. A winning combination of
skills, power and teamwork enabled the team to sweep through Saturday's
play and roar back from a couple of tighter situations on Sunday. The
team scored 34 goals and allowed just 9, every boy on the team scoring
at least once except the chief defensive stopper who included a header
off the line amongst his saves.

Red Devils Win VYSA Presidents Cup
The U14 Red Devils, coached by Mike Franks and Steve Geyer captured the U14 VYSA State Championship. After beating the ODSC Pirates on Saturday 3-0, the Red Devils were taken to double overtime by SMI Nitro in the final on Sunday and prevailed 1-0. It was a great weekend of soccer for the team going undefeated and giving up zero goals. The next stop will be representing the state of Virginia in the US Youth Soccer Region 1 tournament in New Hampshire (May 2012).
Calypso Capture First PlaceHerndon
Calypso clinched a WAGS Division Championship for the fall 2011 season,
with a 5-0 victory in their season finale. Calypso posted an 8-1
record, with a +22 goal differential. Calypso's balanced offensive
attack was complemented all season by a dominating defense that
delivered six shutouts and only allowed four goals all year.

Rovers East Capture U13 Presidents Cup
Rovers East capped an undefeated weekend in Richmond VA by defeating Virginia Rush 10-0 in the semifinals on Saturday and VYS Heat 3-0 on Sunday to be crowned the US Youth Soccer Club U13 Virginia State Champions!!!! The championship game was played with 10 Rovers for about 45 minutes because red card (Rovers East FIRST card in 3 seasons - either yellow or red). The offense got the job done applying constant pressure and making spectacular runs - the midfield totally dominated and controlled the flow with almost total perfection - the defense played lights-out all weekend not allowing 1 goal -- a FANTASTIC performance all around! A big congratulations to all the Rovers players for their hard work all weekend and a "thank you" to all the parents who traveled on short notice. Now - next stop for Rovers East in NCSL Division 2 (spring 2013) and the US Youth Soccer Region 1 tournament in New Hampshire in May 2013 where they will be representing the State of Virginia !!
Herndon Saints FC - Battlefield Tournament Champions
The U11 Girls Herndon Saints FC, coached by Rich Martinez and Scott
Urban, win the 2011 Northern Virginia Soccer Club Battlefield Tournament
with a 3-0-1 record! The Saints' defense was nearly impenetrable,
allowing only one goal throughout the four-game tournament. The offense
was sharp, securing the title with a decisive 2-0 win in the final game.
The girls played aggressively and cleanly, maintaining their composure
against tough competition. The Saints look forward to continued success
this season!
Argentinos Jr's Black are Champions
The U9 Argentinos Jr’s Black coached by HYS Technical Director Nick Arzani, were impressive in their 1st opportunity to represent Herndon Youth Soccer. Competing in the SAC Columbus Day tournament in Columbia MD,
the Argentinos Jr’s displayed amazing foot
skills, quality passing and great teamwork, scoring 11 goals while
allowing only 5. After going undefeated in group play and a decisive
semi-final victory, the "
Bichos Colorados " exhibited incredible toughness and heart in the final match winning 2-1 and bringing a championship back to Herndon!

Herndon Freedom Ranked #1 in the Nation
Herndon Youth Soccer is proud to welcome the Rising GU14 Freedom
into our club. Previously registered through WAGS as the ASC Freedom, we
are looking forward to supporting the new Herndon Freedom as they continue
their success wearing Herndon colors with pride! Coached by Gus Donolo
and Totan Roy of Soccer the Brazilian Way, the Freedom finished off their
season in 2nd place in the WAGS U13 Division 1 competition, while at the same
time succeeding in becoming the U13 State Cup Champions of Virginia. The
Freedom followed their success into the Region 1 Championship Tournament,
making it all the way to the semi-final round, finishing 3rd out of
16 different state champions. Currently the Herndon Freedom is ranked
Number 1 in the country in their respective age group by
GotSoccer, www.gotsoccer.com.
We congratulate the girls and coaches on all their success and look forward to
many great victories ahead!
HYS Attack win U10G All Star Championship
The U-10 girls All Star team (The ATTACK) led by
Coach Faye Lavenhouse and Assistant Coach Gary Schuh, won the U-10 girls
division Championship game 3-2 in a nail-biting PK shoot-out. The
Attack was undefeated going into the championship game, having their only tie
against a very strong team they would face again in the finals.
The Attack overcame a 2 goal deficit against the LMVSC Patriots to tie the game
with two goals in the second half. The tying goal was blasted into the
net with just 1 minute to play, forcing the game into
overtime. Each of the players contributed significantly to an
incredible run to become the U-10 All Star Champions! The Attack
included Johana Andrade, Akayla Bailey, Jennifer Carballo, Valeria Castillo,
Tanvir Dhaliwal, Amrit Dhanjal, Isabelle Gulgert, Gigi Henriquez, Trinity
Lavenhouse, Keiry Montiel, Abla Samrhouni, Courtney Schuh, Caitlin Smith and
Sarah Smith. Congratulations for an awesome team effort!!
Phoenix Champions at Hershey Invitiational
Congratulations to the Herndon Phoenix and Coaches Paul Robson, HannahRobson & Mike Franks for winning the Hershey Invitational TournamentChampionship! In four games, Phoenix went undefeated with an astonishing 15goals for, 2 goals against performance. After only one year together as ateam, this is their first tournament championship! Congratulations Phoenix!
U8 Herndon Black - Warriors “All Star Performance”
The U8 Warriors represented Herndon Youth Soccer with an amazing performance at the FPYC Fathers’ Day All Star tournament. The Warriors posted a 3-0-1 record, taking the top spot in the U8 Blue Division.The
Warriors, coached by Mark Duston and Nick Coticchia, , played with
tremendous heart, displaying incredible ball skills, strong team defense
and several amazing finishes. Taking on some of the elite U8 teams in
our region, The Warriors had a battle with every match. With four full
games over two days the team stayed committed to supporting each other
in all aspects of the game, playing with a high level of passion and

Fury are Finalists at The Virginian Soccer Tournament
Congratulations to the Herndon Fury U11 girls team. The team went 4-1 over the weekend bringing home the finalist title at the Virginian Soccer Tournament. A 2-1 win over SYC Storm Blue got the weekend off to a great start. That was followed with a 4-2 win over the Staten Island Comets. A 1-0 shutout over ASC Elite ended the preliminary round. The semi-final against Great Falls Freedom was a nail biter – with the Fury victorious in a 2-1 win. The finals - a match up again the NVSC Jr. Majestics ’99 rounded out the tournament play. A hard fought game, in brutal heat conditions, against a tough opponent yielded an 0-1 loss. The girls represented Herndon Youth Soccer well with 5 hard fought games. Way to go Fury and Coach Shannon!
Herndon Attack win Bull Run Memorial
The Herndon Attack U10 Girls won the Classic Division of the Bull Run Memorial Day Tournament. The team finished with a 3-1 record and this is their first tournament championship. It was overall a great weekend for the girls. Way to go Attack!
Calypso Win Liberty Cup
Braving cold, snow and wind; Herndon Calypso started their spring season off on a high note, winning the 2011 FPYC Liberty Cup U11 Girls Gold Division Championship. Calypso earned a spot in the championship game by winning Group A, amassing a 2-0-1 record, with key victories against Ashburn Elite and CSC Storm and a 1-1 draw against the powerful SYC Storm Blue. Calypso’s stifling defense was complemented by a dynamic offensive attack that was able to manufacture goals against some very tough defences. In the final, Calypso defeated Stafford Revolution 1-0 in a see-saw battle, but once the offense scored on a nifty breakaway goal, Calypso's defensive unit locked down the victory despite Revolution’s furious press in the final minutes. Way to go, Calypso!!

Galaxy Win Commonwealth Classic
The Herndon Galaxy, traveled to Richmond, VA last weekend and came home Tournament Champions! After playing 3 hard fought matches, the last one in snow, the Galaxy finished with a 2-1 record and won the Championship. A great effort by all the boys in some real adverse weather conditions dealing with the cold and snow. We are very proud of their team efforts!!
U8 Herndon Black - Warriors “Finish Strong”
The U8 Warriors were impressive in their 1st opportunity to represent Herndon Youth Soccer in the 10th Annual All Star Cup. With a record of 6-1 The Warriors, coached by Mark Duston and Jeff Leong, demonstrated a unique combination of excellent ball skills and passing, strong team defense and an explosive offense. Playing against very tough competition from all over the region, the Warriors had a battle with every match. The team ended up only allowing 9 goals while scoring 27. Premier Crowned Champions of Fall Classic
Coach Chris Naquin and the U-9 Herndon Premier Red boys Club Team were crowned Champions of the NVSC Fall Classic Soccer Tournament on November 21. The Premier Red went undefeated in the tournament scoring a total of 9 goals with only being scored on twice in four games.
FC Inter Win Hunt Country Classic
HERNDON FC Inter capped their 2010 Fall Season by winning the Fauquier Soccer Club's HUNT CLUB CLASSIC tournament November 19th and 20th. Goalkeepers Adrian Perez, Jacab Knickerbocker, and Ignat Miagkov held the opponents to 4 goals for the entire weekend. Sparked by goals from Isaac Cabral, Chas Donaldson, and Eli McClendon , the team demonstrated controlled possession in winning the championship 2-1 over ODFC. Midfielders Brian Alvarado, Danny Perez, and Colin McMunn led the attack with passes that continued to threaten the opponents goal. Defenders Aayush Malde and Pranava Maganti were rock solid, with each only coming off the field for 5 five minutes the entire weekend.
Fury Earns Top Spot
Congratulations to Coach Shannon Poach and the Herndon Fury U11 girls team, for winning the 2010 Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournament Championship in the Patriot Division. The Fury rallied back from a first game loss to GFSC ’99 Freedom to win against Bethesda SC Academy Green ‘99 4-0 in the second game. A challenge awaited the Fury against the Pachuca Dragons ‘99 in the semi-finals. After two overtime periods a 2-2 tie remained. Penalty kicks ensued and the Fury prevailed with a 3-1 advantage to advance to the finals. Meeting a regular season opponent, the Ashburn ASC ’99 Elite, the Fury came prepared to battle. After 60 minutes of intense action the Fury were victorious with a 2-0 win. A fantastic way to end the Fall season. GO FURY!

CONGRATULAIONS to Mike Franks, coach of the Red Devils U13b team and Hannah Robson who along with brother Paul coaches the U12g Pegasus and Phoenix and U11g Calypso. Mike and Hannah met on the Herndon soccer fields so it is only fitting that they should get engaged on the new turf field at Herndon High School.
The Heat win the President's Cup
The U14 Herndon Heat beat FYPC Wildcats Blue on November 7th 2-0 to win the Girls U14 Virginia President's Cup today. The Heat will represent the state of Virginia in the Region 1 tournament Memorial Day weekend 2011 in Albany, NY. Calypso wins Discovery Cup Championship!
The U11 Herndon Calypso continues its successful 2010 fall campaign with an impressive showing at the prestigious Discovery Cup tournament held over the Columbus day weekend October 9th & 10 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown Maryland. The Calypso was undefeated with a record of 3-0-1. Their fast paced ball control style of play, consistently solid defense and an often explosive offense lead The Calypso into the U11 Girls Final where they won with a commanding 3-0 victory! They then celebrated complete with post game tie-dyes at the Washington Freedom Stadium where they received their trophies. Way to Go Calypso!
Hooligans Reach DNST Finals
Congratulations to the Herndon Hooligans, the new U9 WAGs girls travel soccer team coached by Andy Fertick, who reached the finals of the DNST Champion Division. Playing in their first tournament as a team, and really their first games, the Hooligans played teams from Vienna, SYS and McLean and scored 8 goals, with 7 against to reach the finals. In the final game and through 90-plus degree temperatures, the played to a 1-1 tie through regulation and two, 10-minute overtimes against a very strong VYS team. The Hooligans ended up losing a heartbreaker in 5 penalty kicks, even with some great saves by their goalie. Overall, it was a great weekend of soccer and a promising start to the Hooligans season.
FC Inter are DNST Finalists
The U10 boys FC Inter had a strong showing in the Dulles National Soccer Tournament, placing second in the Champion division. The team with 5 new players had an exciting final game that was decided in overtime. FC Inter proved their effort, commitment and determination before their hard fought 3-2 loss in overtime. Strong keeper play from Adrian Perez, Ignat Miagkov and Isaac Cabral kept FC Inter in closely contested matches. FC inter is looking forward to a successful fall season in the NCSL – congratulations boys!

Wanderers Finalists at Hershey Invitational
In their second 11 v 11 tournament, the Wanderers did a great job with just 13 players over a very hot weekend making it to the finals against opponents from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. After the first day of playing two strong games and securing their spot in the semi-finals, the Wanderers enjoyed a day riding the rides at Hershey Park. After winning the semi-final 1-0 against a strong and fast Medford, PA team, the Wanderers went to the finals against an aggressive team from Brite Township, NJ. During this high paced, intense game, the Wanderers found themselves down 1-0 with time running out. In a bold move, on what was almost the final play, all 11 players went into the box on a corner kick to try and get the equalizer. A rocket shot of the post secured them a tie! After 2 sudden-death overtime periods, the two teams went into penalty kicks, where the Wanderers ended up losing after 14 shots and numerous great saves by each team! It was another great tournament and weekend for the girls who learned a lot about themselves and their great determination.

In their first 11 v 11 tournament as they prepare for the fall 2010 season, the Wanderers played a strong group of teams to reach the championship game, with a 3-2 record and 8 goals scored and just 4 against. They played a fantastic 80 minute game for the semi-final, in which they ended up scoring two goals in overtime to win 3-1. In the final, in a game that could have gone either way, they played a very tough team and ended up losing 1-0. All in all, a great learning experience and one that helps them get ready for the fall.

NEW HYS TECHNICAL DIRECTOR NAMED
Nick Arzani has been named to be the new HYS Technical Director and will assume responsibility for player training and coach developement for the club. Nick is a hugely in demand trainer as his skill and ability to develop players is well known by all. He is the coach of the highly successful U14b Herndon Athletic, NCSL division 1 and the current Virginia State Cup Champion U13b Boca Jrs, also NCSL division 1.
His focus on technique and ball skills will be a great benefit to our young developing players and we are very excited to be able to continue and further our association with him. |
