Fall 2010 Information Sheet

Registration

Children must be born between 8/1/91 and 9/30/06 to play this year.

Registration is available online at www.herndonyouthsoccer.org starting June 14^th. . Cost is $105 for each player; 3^rd player in a family is $80 and 4^th player on is free. Payment can be by credit card (VISA or MASTERCARD only) or a check can be mailed in WITHIN 10 days of registration. NO PLAYER WILL BE PLACED ON A TEAM UNLESS EITHER PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE OR SCHOLARSHIP PAPERWORK HAS BEEN SUBMITTED.

For those not interested or unable to register online, we will hold 2 in person registrations at Herndon Community Center on Thursday July 8^th from 7-9pm and Saturday July 24^th from 12-4pm. A limited number of forms are available at the Herndon Community Center and may be mailed in to HYS PO Box 464 Herndon VA 20172. All applications must be received online or post marked by July 24^th to be considered on-time. After this date registrations are subject to a $25 late fee and will only be placed on teams if space is available. The late fee is not refundable unless we are unable to place the child on a team.

Volunteers to coach or assistant coach must register to coach on-line in order to complete the mandatory KidSafe form. Commissioners will contact those volunteers who are selected to coach in late February/early March. Coaches (or assistant or a team representative) need to plan on attending the MANDATORY coaches meetings to be held in mid March (dates not yet set) Commissioners will notify coaches as to the specific day and time for their particular age group.)

If you have special requests in terms of a particular coach, friend to be on the same team or day/time practice conflicts YOU MUST NOTE IT ON YOUR REGISTRATION. We cannot guarantee we con honor your request, but will not accommodate ANY requests not noted on the form.

Scholarships

We will be using the Fairfax County Youth Scholarship Form. Applicant can either provide proof of free/reduced lunch or other public assistance OR have the form signed by authorized school personnel. The scholarship form and HYS registrations will be available at most area schools and at our in person registrations and may be mailed in to our PO Box or brought to one of the in-person registrations. Practices

Practices will start the week of August 30^th. There are no practices for MicroKicks. MiniKicks (U6) and U7 practice once a week. U8 practices are once or twice a week and U10 and older teams generally practice twice a week. Coaches select day/time/location for practices and they will notify their team players of the details.

Games

Games will start September 11^th. Game dates will be: September 11, 18, 25, October 2,16,23,30 and November 6 and 13. There are no games on Columbus Day weekend. The SFL tournament for U11/12 and older is on the weekend November 13-14. The all-star tournament for players selected is on November 20-21 and is hosted by Herndon Youth Soccer. Almost all U10 and younger games will be on Saturdays. Rain make-ups or divisions needing to play an extra game due to a bye week caused by an uneven number of teams will generally be Sundays. U11 and older (SFL) home games also will also mostly be on Saturdays but as some localities do schedule games on Sunday, and rain makeups are on Sunday it is possible that SFL teams could have a Sunday game. It is also necessary for the SFL to occasionally schedule a team to play Sunday home games. Players need to be aware that some Sunday play is possible.

Equipment

The SFL jersey is not given to players as part of the registration cost SFL teams will wear theDiadora jersey that we began wearing in fall 2009. If you are new or need a new jersey, please do not purchase until you check with your team coach about the jersey number.

After receiving the jersey number from the coach jerseys may be purchased at Cassels (14000 Park Center Rd Herndon 20171…Cassels also features other merchandise (backpacks, running suits, T-shirts) that can be printed with the HYS logo, name and/or number.

U10 and under players receive a shirt and socks each season as part of their registration fee.
