MCSA 91 Strykers - 7

The highlight of the Herndon Hurricanes and MCSA 91 Strykers game was the brilliant refereeing debut of Tim Ryan.  Tim took instantaneous control of the game by performing the coin toss.  He borrowed the coaches good luck coin, a rare five peso Philippines piece, and skillfully tossed it several feet in the air.   In the excitement following the coin toss, Tim ingeniously pocketed the rare coin as a reward for not losing it.

Tim judiciously refereed the game, keeping simultaneous track of the time and the players.  Tim was exquisite. He took immediate command, and single handily taught the players all the specifics of the rules. His skillful control of the team dazzled all in attendance.

Following the game, the parents and players chanted, “We want referee Ryan, We want referee Ryan!” To the rhythm of the chant, the parents, Hurricanes coaches and the league commissioner ceremonially carried Tim Ryan off the field.

The Hurricanes and Strykers played a good game. Strykers won, enough said.

CROF Red Devils - 5

On a heavenly Sunday afternoon with clear sky and divine temperature the Hurricanes and Devils matched wits with impressive play by both teams. The Hurricanes dominated the opening minutes of the half with robust play by Bryn Violette, Uwem Etuk and Jon Stevens. Heavenly passing and angelic play by Brendan Gallagher, Daniel Valcicak and Sean DeFord set up Bryn Violette for a hellish shot past the Devils goalie for the first score of the game.  The diabolical Devils charred the Herndon Elementary school turf by staging drives on the Hurricane backfield of Jeremy Ryan, Tyler Meintel Michael Hayden and Beau Brady. Several back to back scorching shots by the Devils were extinguished by the godly play of the Hurricane goalie Eric Myers.

The Hurricanes launched drives on a Tyler Meintel pass interception and Daniel Valcicak header pass to Uwem Etuk and Shomari Carter. The pace of the game intensified as quickly as the speed of Michael Hayden who set up Steven Moss for another Hurricane strike. The Devils extracted a Hurricane pass and centered it in front of the Hurricane goal. Devils forward took the centering pass and singed a punt past the diving Hurricane goalie. Moments later the Devils sent another scolding kick off the post into the Hurricane net.

Second half opened with Ramsey Bates in goal and Eric Myers on offense. Minutes into the play, the Devils blistered a boom past Ramsey Bates for another goal of the game. Hurricane gust and header pass by Daniel Valcicak to Joshua Herr and Eric Myers set up Brendan Galagher for a blustering boot passed the amazed Devil keeper. A poke away steal by Sean DeFord led the Hurricanes on a breakaway excursion down the field for another Hurricane scoring attempt.  Bryn Violette, John Stevens, and Eric Meyers continued to apply pressure cooling the Devils spirits. The exciting game continued with Hurricanes storming the Devils territory with long passes and piercing blows in subsequent attempts to even then score and win the game. Toward the end of the half, in a debut as goalie, Jeremy Ryan played an exceptional game.  At the end of the day, the Hurricanes were certainly outscored, but not outplayed.
