It is with the deepest sadness and lots and lots of anger that we need to tell you that Fairfax County has closed all Park Authority grass fields all weekend. As far as the tournament goes, this effects BARON CAMERON only ( NOT Hutchison as it is a school field and they do not have control over that). This is a ridiculous decision particularly in regards to Sunday, and I can tell you that I had staff out at Baron Cameron this afternoon and the little U8 fields would have been perfectly playable. I called our area Park Authority manager and he made a couple calls but the message back was basically to bad/so sad.
If we possibly could have we would have tried to move these games elsewhere, however obviously grass fields were not an option and I had to previously give back all of the turf space I was not using to the county ( a requirement) and they in turn had already given it to the BETHESDA tournament.
If you are angry……so are we. Feel absolutely free to express your feelings to the Park Authority.
Also, ask your county people why it is they are giving OUR TURF FIELDS in Fairfax County to a MARYLAND tournament. To the teams effected, we will be in touch soon with information as to partial refunds and credits for next year’s all-star tournament. It may take a couple weeks as I have 2 upcoming hospitalizations and our treasurer is out of town for 2 weeks for the holiday.
ALL OTHER FIELDS WILL BE OPEN ON TIME TOMORROW
