The youngest players will learn the FUNdamentals of soccer through activities designed to engage their imagination and interest. Emphasis at this age is ball mastery.

Designed for the more advanced player enrolled in the Herndon Premier Program and/or named to the fall HYS All-Star teams. The training introduces players to the travel level by emphasizing individual ball mastery and basic small-sided game tactics.

Players will work mainly on individual footskills to develop their comfort and confidence on the ball, learning various techniques to control and manipulate the ball for greater possession.

Focusing on the development of each players comfort and ability with the ball. Establishing these skills at this age is crucial for long term development, and this curriculum allows players to get many touches on the ball in a variety of playing situations.
Monday evenings 5-6pm at Cassels.

Players will train with futsal balls for greater skill development. The futsal ball is a smaller, heavier ball used on the indoor surface and requires players to focus on the proper technique to strike or handle the ball. Players will also play small-sided futsal games with lined boundaries—the smaller space and fast surface demands players to have a more refined touch, greater accuracy in passing and make quicker decisions.
Thursday evenings from 5-6pm at Cassels.

Combining numerous skill-building activities that develop the players touch along with activities to enhance their awareness and decision making. Making game related decisions while improving a player’s touch and quickness with the ball.
NOTE: this sessions and session 10 will be run together with players divided by coaches so U11-U13g can sign up for either one.

This training is for the more advanced player who understands the fundamentals and is interested in refining their technique and tactical understanding of the game with similar-level players.

For players at the highest level, this session adds defensive pressure to the ball to improve their speed of thought and play while continuing to work on ball mastery. Game like and game related situations to nurture a player’s ability to make the best decisions.
