Practices will start the week of March 25th. There are no separate practices for MicroKicks. Minikicks (U6), U7, and U8 practice once a week and also have 4 professional training sessions a season. U10 and older teams can usually practice twice a week if they desire. We have multiple schools closed for renovation of the schools this season so practice selections may be limited. Coaches select day/time/location for practices and they will notify their team players of the details.
Games will start April 6th.
Game dates are April 6, 13, 27; May 4, 11, 18; June 1, 8.
No games April 20th, Easter weekend, or May 25th, Memorial Day weekend.
The SFL tournament for U11/12 and older is on the weekend of June 8th-9th.
The all-star tournament for players selected is on June 15th-16th and is hosted by FPYC in the spring.
Almost all U10 and younger games will be on Saturdays. Rain make-ups or divisions needing to play an extra game due to a bye week caused by an uneven number of teams will generally occur on Sundays.
U11 and older (SFL) home games also will also mostly be on Saturdays but as some localities do schedule games on Sunday, and rain makeups are on Sunday it is possible that SFL teams could have a Sunday game. It is also necessary for the SFL to occasionally schedule a team to play Sunday home games. Players need to be aware that some Sunday play is possible.
The SFL jersey is not given to players as part of the registration cost.
SFL players all bought new jerseys in the fall 2018 ($31.95) and we will continue to wear those jerseys for several years. Coaches will give new players their jersey number and then players can purchase the jersey from Cassells.
Their address is 2816 Towerview Rd Herndon 20171
Cassels also features other matching merchandise such as shorts and socks.
DO NOT attempt to purchase a new jersey until you receive your fall coach assigned number.
U10 and under players receive a shirt and socks each season as part of their registration fee.
Shin guards are mandatory and kids should have a ball. U5-U8 uses a size 3, U9-U12 a size 4 and U13 and over size 5. Cleats are not mandatory.
