Herndon Youth Soccer Hires Jane Dawber as Director of Recreation

New Position Furthers the Club’s Commitment to Serve Membership with Focused Support, Development and Growth

January 10, 2022 - Herndon Youth Soccer is pleased to announce the hiring of Jane Dawber in the newly created role of Director of Recreation. While Jane will continue to serve the club in her current capacity as Director of PreTravel and head coach of the 2013 and 2012 girls travel teams, Herndon will utilize her expertise and leadership to further the development and growth of our recreational program.

"Herndon Youth Soccer continues to grow and move forward in a positive direction, and Jane is part of that growth that has had an indelible impact on our club since she joined our staff last spring. She brings an incredible wealth of passion and knowledge to the program and will provide a first-class experience to all of our recreational players, coaches and administrators," said Greg Andrulis, Herndon Youth Soccer Executive Director.

"Jane has been an incredible addition to our staff and has excelled at every opportunity provided to her.  Her energy, organizational skills and coaching IQ are at the elite level. I look forward to working with Jane as we continue our collaborative mission for Herndon Youth Soccer,” said Technical Director Nick Arzani.

As Director of Recreation, Jane will oversee the program from U4-U19, focusing on the development of players and volunteer coaches through curriculum and education, growing our community through outreach and promotional programs in schools, providing support and strategic assessment on game day, and strengthening the involvement of recreational families with regular and direct communication.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Herndon Community through our club,” said Jane. “The recreational program is a very important part of every club as it serves as the building blocks to the club's success. I am excited to extend our outreach in the community, and to increase opportunities for all children to participate in Herndon Youth Soccer. Volunteer coaches are the backbone of our Recreational program, and I am looking forward to being a resource for our coaches to help aid in player development. I look forward to working closely with our club staff to ensure our players and coaches have the best opportunities and experiences possible."

A native of England, Jane is a former English Premier League professional soccer player who brings over 25 years coaching experience into the role. Her licensing and education include the UEFA B license, the USSF B license, the FA Youth, and the USYS National Youth License. She has previously worked at various youth soccer clubs in Northern Virginia, helping to grow their youth programs at both the grassroots and travel levels.

The position was created through the support of Herndon Youth Soccer’s Board of Directors.

“The BOD is so pleased to add such a capable member to our staff as we continue to expand our programs and dedication to the community. Jane Dawber is another highly qualified Coach/Mentor/Trainer to reach and teach our children. We are very excited to see the reflections of fun, sportsmanship and friendship reaching more families to foster the love of the game for anyone that wants to play,” said BOD President David Bekenstein.
