Herndon Youth Soccer Executive Director

 

Herndon Youth Soccer seeks an Executive Director to serve as the strategic and operational leader of the organization. The Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Directors, and will ultimately be responsible for all aspects of the club’s daily operations, as well as lead the development of a long-term strategic plan and vision for the club. Deadline to apply is 1/31/2021.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Create strategic short and long term objectives and execution plan
  • Engage the community and businesses to raise funds for the club 
  • Lead fundraising, partnership, and sponsorship campaigns
  • Help establish and maintain financial objectives
  • Prepare and manage programs’ budgets and allocate resources
  • Lead and direct all professional staff in on-field and off-field operations
  • Establish employment and administrative policies and procedures for all club’s functions and day-to-day operations
  • Create and lead performance reviews of professional staff
  • Serve as spokesperson for club
  • Ensure all participants are meeting their financial obligations
  • Recruit and hire all technical and administrative staff, in conjunction with Technical Director and Board of Directors
  • Negotiate discounts for tournaments/events of travel teams
  • Develop and distribute coaching and managers manuals with club policies and procedures
  • Create additional programming in the interests of enhancing services to our members and raising the profile of the club within the broader soccer community  


Prior Work Experience and Education

  • Must have experience in an executive role in a sports club or as a technical director 
  • College degree, preferably in sports management or in a non-profit organization management
  • Demonstrated leadership, management and communications skills while managing or directing a successful youth sports club
  • Demonstrated knowledge of club operations from a business management and operational side
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute a fiscal year budget 
  • Demonstrated organizational development acumen that includes building cohesive operational and administrative teams
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with members, staff, local businesses, sponsors, and community
  • Proven success in recruiting, developing, managing, and retaining volunteers and staff
  • Personal integrity and ethical character with ability to align staff and members with club’s core values
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekend events and evenings

About Herndon Youth Soccer

Herndon Youth Soccer is a 501(c) non-profit organization, serving the Herndon community and surrounding areas, with more than 1700 youth soccer players in our Recreational, Pre-Travel, and Travel Soccer programs.  Our Travel Soccer Program has more than 40 competitive teams (ages 8-19), and our Recreational Soccer Program has more than 120 teams (ages 4-19).  Our travel teams play in Club Champions League (CCL) Premiership, Club Champions League (CCL) Championship, and National Capital Soccer League (NCSL).  Our teams have found success at marquee tournaments, Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) State Cup, and United States Youth Soccer (USYS) Region 1 Championships.  We have had countless players participate at the college and professional level after matriculating at our club.
