Overview
Elevate your player’s summer with the Herndon Youth Soccer Summer League, an expertly designed program that blends high-energy competition with purposeful skill development in a dynamic, community-driven environment.
Our Summer Soccer program delivers the ideal balance of skill development and fun competition in a structured yet flexible environment.
Open for players of all levels, our league provides the ideal platform for both new and returning players from both competitive and grassroots programs to build confidence, refine technique, and stay game-ready through engaging, professionally-led coaching clinics, small-sided game play, and consistent match experience.

- Saturday games at Hutchison Park Turf (Herndon, VA)
- Weekday clinic-style training at Bready Park Turf (Herndon, VA)
Program Options
- Training + Games: 6-12 practices + 6 games
- Games Only: 6 games (no weekday training)

Program Structure
First Touch Academy U4/U5 Program (2023 and 2022 birth years) does not play league games. Both weekday and weekend sessions are structured around movement and ball familiarity actitivites to build confidence and joy of playing the game.
First Touch Academy U6 Program
Birth Year: 2021 birth year | Practice: Monday and/or Wednesday (5:30–6:30 PM) | Games: Saturdays (3v3)
U7–U8 Division
Birth Years: 2020–2019 | Practice: Tuesday and/or Thursday (5:30–6:30 PM) | Games: Saturdays (5v5)
U9–U10 Division
Birth Years: 2018–2017 | Practice: Monday and/or Wednesday (6:30–7:30 PM) | Games: Saturdays (5v5)
U11–U12 Division
Birth Years: 2016–2015 | Practice: Tuesday and/or Thursday (6:30–7:30 PM) | Games: Saturdays (5v5)
U13–U14 Division
Birth Years: 2014–2013 | Practice: Monday and/or Wednesday (7:30–8:30 PM) | Games: Saturdays (7v7)
U15–U19 Division
Birth Years: 2012–2008 | Practice: Tuesday and/or Thursday (7:30–8:30 PM) | Games: Saturdays (7v7)
* Volunteer coaches are needed to assist with professionally-led weekday training, and manage substitutions during weekend games. Coaches kids' play for free (fully reimbursed at the conclusion of the season). Mark yourself as a volunteer coach at registration to sign up. Game Jersey: $20

Required items to be purchased separately:
- Summer League Jerseys (purchased at checkout)
- Shin Guards and soccer socks
- Ball: size 3 for U4 to U8; size 4 for U9-U12; size 5 for U13+
- Soccer Shoes (*Not required for First Touch Academy)

Additional Information
⚽ Friday Night Lights
A player-favorite and a key differentiator of our Summer League. Friday Night Lights is a weekly, unstructured free play environment designed to bring out creativity, confidence, and a true love for the game.
Friday Night Free Play Schedule
- U7–U12: Fridays, 5:30 – 6:30 PM
- U13–U19: Fridays, 6:30 – 7:30 PM
No pressure. No coaching. Letting players lead.
✔ Included for all registered Summer League players.
How Teams Are Formed
- Teams are created to ensure balanced, competitive games
- Friend/coach requests will be considered where possible
- Rosters are finalized prior to schedule release
What to Expect
- Attendance for training and games is flexible as summer vacation plans are expected.
- Consistent scheduling for easy summer planning
- Focus on development, enjoyment, and confidence building
- Positive, player-first environment
- Coaching led by experienced HYS coaching staff with age-appropriate curriculum
- Sessions follow Fairfax County field status updates. Make-up sessions scheduled where possible.
